I ran along the Elk Refuge road today, it was really pretty but the road is a bit rough. My ankle started to hurt. I rolled in three times at work last Wednesday and it's still a bit swollen but it hasn't bothered me much at all, even when I ran ten or so miles last weekend.

My ankle hurts a little today, I think it's even more swollen so I iced my whole foot after my run by filling a cooler with ice water. The cooler did it's job fantastically of keeping the water cold! I'm running a 10k for the 4th of July so I hope it doesn't still hurt tomorrow.
I ran with my mom today, which is good for me since she's faster, it gives me a challenge to keep up with her.

Happy 4th of July! I ran a 10k today which was my first official race since XC state last October. I thought about trying to stay with my mom and her friends, Robin & Ann, but no such luck. I found a guy who was going about my pace, a titch faster, so I decided to try to stay with him at least until the turn around half way through. It turned out to be good that I found someone to run with because I had to mentally stay focused so I wouldn't loose him. He was doing some funky thing with his right hand, it seemed to be playing ping-pong. It took me a few miles (3) to get into a pace where I felt confident and comfortable, so when I was almost at the turn around, I passed Ping-pong man. The race was really pretty, and very small, I think there were only just under two hundred people, if even. During the last mile, a guy who was maybe about 13 passed me. I decided that was not going to fly so I used him as my goal. He kept stopping though so that "goal" didn't really work. He almost passed me at the end with his friend riding his bike next to him but I put in a good kick the last quarter mile. But I was definitely feeling the 2,000 ft altitude difference from Salt Lake, the lack of oxygen was really taking a hit on me.
After the race, Ping-pong man came up and said thanks to me for pacing him. Turns out, he has a name! Ping-pong man is Tom from California. His final time was 48:13, so not too far behind me.
It was a lot of fun and my ankle didn't hurt, I didn't even notice it the whole time. It's still swollen so I'm icing it right now but I'm hoping it will quickly recover.

I think I lost a lung today running (or trying to run) up Snow King. It is a 1,571 ft gain of steep uphill switch backs. I ran with my mom, dad, and Robin.  My mom goes up Snow King at least once a week, usually more, so she way ahead. I could sometimes see her on the switchback above me but it was usually too high above and too wooded. Needless to say, they all beat me. On the way down, I took it a bit slower due to my mother's orders so I wouldn't risk injuring my ankle on all of the loose rocks. It was a fun, but very chanllenging run which I think I'll have to try to do again to improve my time and run more on.

I ran from Stilson to Wilson today, mostly along the bike path. I was really sore from the weekends events and my ankle was hurting. I iced it when I got home - again in the cooler. The run was really pretty, but I was not in the best mentality for it so it didn't feel too good at all.

I got in about 4 miles today in the hot sun at Yule Hill where there is absolutely no shade. After, I went to the climbing gym for an hour and a half - great upper body workout!

Yule Hille again! Today was a lot of fun, we went on a "freedom hike" for a few hours so that helped with the mileage!

Yule Hill once again, the lack of shade wasn't too fun!

I went on the trail to Lake Emma Matilda, which was really pretty. Definitely was feeling the ankle a bit. It's still swollen, but at least it's not getting more swollen - I think!

It was so fun too see the cross country team today! I've missed running with them but wow, it was quite an interesting workout!Since today is July 11, 7-11 was giving out free 7.11 oz slurpees. We ran 7 miles and hit 6 different 7-11s. The rule was we had to top off a 7.11 oz cup and drink it before heading off to the next one. It was hilarious! The slurpees started to kick in after number 4, so about 32 oz, bad side aches! Then running up the last hill to get to our final slurpee destination was killer! Good thing I had Bre running by me so I wouldn't stop! I don't think I'm going to ever want another slurpee in my lifetime, I still have a brain freeze.

Today I ran up around the zoo, along Wasatch, and eventually made my way to Sugarhouse Park (hadn't been there in ages!!) where I did a lap on the road then ran back along 19th. My ankle hurt a little a few times but I didn't really notice it too much. It's been 2 1/2 weeks and its still swollen and sore. Dang.

Today we hiked to Phelps Lake. The switch backs were killer, especially on the way up with all of the tools. We got to swim in the lake at the end of the day for a few minutes so that was a fun way to cool off! No change in the ankle status though, it's still sore and swollen.

Today I hiked up Cascade Canyon for work. It was gorgeous! Carrying tools up hills isn't always fun but it was a way fun hike. I definitely want to go back up there again and run on the trail. My ankle is still swollen :(

Today I ran from Stilson to one of the ends of the bike path in Wilson then my mom and I ran along another road to add some more miles. I had a really hard time running today. My ankle was hurting and I think I really let that get to me mentally. My mom was probably about a quarter of a mile ahead of me a few times so that made me feel extremely slow. I was just exhausted and feeling kind of sick before I even started running. The last maybe 3 miles were especially hard, I don't know why but I just had to keep telling myself that I could almost see the car. I hope my ankle gets better soon!

I went to Lupine Meadows today, we didn't go that far because of where we were working but I rolled my ankle a little on a rock - again. Not fun.

Lupine Meadows again today! We had to walk back and forth carrying logs so that helped to add some miles! Ankle still sore but didn't hurt too much today, my arms are killing me from all the work!

Today I ran around Jenny Lake with my mom and my Aunt Mary. It was a lot of fun! Trail running goes by so much quicker than running on the road! Mary stepped on a snake which was quite dramatic as we screamed and surely scared some tourists, one girl who was maybe 8, looked terrified when Mary and I screamed. It's extremely startling to have the stick under your foot start squirming! We also saw a coyote and a what my mom thinks was a bear print, so we had to get the bear spray ready at hand for Mary to shoot! I didn't have any trouble from my ankle while running but it's still swollen and it hurts if it is accidentally bumped.

Today I went up Death Canyon with my parents and my Aunt Mary. It was gorgeous! The first half was pretty much all uphill. We went just a little past the patrol cabin then, on our way back, we stopped by the water and my dad and I jumped in. It was probably the coldest water I've ever been in! I could hardly breathe! It was even colder than String Lake (kayaking!). It was definitely worth it though, it really helped to cool us down for the hike back. My ankle didn't bother me at all! Yay! I hope that it's getting better!

I went to Lupine Meadows again today. Then, after work I went climbing with Jordan and Trey. We had to hike a little bit to get to The Shield (where we climbed) and then climbing is definitely a workout! I loved it!

Today I went running from my house over to Smiths. It was really hot outside and my ankle was hurting, no bueno! I'm trying to take it a bit easier for my ankles sake but I think only time will make it heal.
